MEDICINE HAT — Two people accused in relation to a major drug bust in the city a year ago, will go to trial on their charges next spring.

Curtis Rodin, 33, and Kris Simons, 32, will be tried on charges of drug possession and trafficking, and possession of the proceeds of crime. Rodin is also accused of resisting arrest, and Simons was charged with possession of a prohibited weapon and breach of probation.

The ALERT unit executed two search warrants on residences in Medicine Hat on October 12, 2018.

They seized cocaine, methamphetamine, psilocybin mushrooms, various weapons and over $19,000 in cash.

Police at the time said it was a pretty significant seizure for the community.

A third person, Lesley Lebel, was fined $1,500 on a charge of possession of a controlled substance, while three other charges against her were withdrawn.
