APARC looking for help to deal with influx of cats in shelter

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Alberta Pound and Rescue Centre (APARC) says they are once again at capacity for cats, and say they are once again at risk of euthanizing cats for space.

The organization posted on its Facebook page that it is in need of people to adopt cats. They say they have also reached out to partner rescues, but say they are capacity issues across the province, and they do not believe they are able to transfer enough cats to make space in the shelter.

The reporting system says the shelter is expected to euthanize cats within 48 hours for space. APARC posted a similar notice in July, but were able to find enough people to adopt cats.

APARC is currently offering a 50 per cent discount on cat adoptions until further notice.
