Tigers falter in home opener, settle for series split against Lethbridge
MEDICINE HAT, AB – It was a night 50 years in the making, however the Medicine Hat Tigers weren’t able to turn that history and tradition into two points.
Medicine Hat’s home opener for their 50th anniversary season was spoiled by the Lethbridge Hurricanes on Saturday, dropping a 3-1 contest at the Canalta Centre.
Hurricanes goaltender Bryan Thomson was brilliant in his first start of the 2019-20 WHL season, stopping 32 of the 33 shots he saw for the win between the pipes.
“That’s a game you got to find a way to win coming home,” said Tigers head coach and GM Willie Desjardins. “We had some guys who probably didn’t get their best out. I think if they looked at their game, they’d say they had a little more to give.”
