Cypress County to add ‘You’re in HALO Country’ to welcome signs

CYPRESS COUNTY, AB — Drivers will soon see something new when driving in or out of Medicine Hat.

The typical ‘Welcome to Cypress County’ signs mounted next to the highway are getting an addition that reads ‘You’re in HALO Country’.

Cypress County Council approved the decision Tuesday to make the additions to their signs in support of HALO Air Ambulance.

“I believe that HALO is a big asset to Cypress County, they have really come a long way over the years so we have always promoted and been behind HALO,” says Cypress County Reeve Dan Hamilton. “This is just another step to help them out.”

HALO plans on mounting the signs featuring their logo and the phrase ‘You’re in HALO Country’ just below the current Cypress County signs on Highway 1 and Highway 3.

According to Reeve Hamilton, it’s positive to let drivers know HALO is here to help if they’re in trouble.

“People need to know that there is someone in that area so if they’re coming in and not from town, they know that they’re covered. If they come up on a car accident they know someone is going to be there for them.”

HALO is handling all of the costs and installation, and may make the addition to all eight ‘Welcome to Cypress County’ signs in the coming years.
