RED DEER, AB – Fresh off a stint with Winnipeg Jets rookies, Ryan Chyzowski made quite the impact in his first exhibition game back with the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday.

Chyzowski scored twice and added an assist for the Tigers, while goalie Evan Fradette made 21 saves in a 5-3 victory over the Red Deer Rebels.

The 19-year-old Chyzowski kicked off a wild first period by tipping an Eric Van Impe point shot home 6:42 into the game to open the scoring.

Just over eight minutes later however, the Rebels boasted a 3-1 lead after three straight goals from Arshdeep Bains, Zak Smith, and Josh Tarzwell to take the lead.

Medicine Hat was able to answer back with a pair of goals in just a nine second span, with Cole Sillinger and Jonathan Brinkman Andersen stunning the Rebels to tie the game at 3-3.

Five minutes into the second period Medicine Hat was granted their third power play of the game with Red Deer’s Cameron Hausinger getting booked for hooking.

On the man advantage, blueliner Cole Clayton ripped a wrist shot for the go-ahead goal to give Medicine Hat its first lead since early in the first period.

Red Deer pressed over the final 40 minutes with 16 shots on Fradette, but the newly acquired netminder was able to hold the Rebels at bay.

That gave Chyzowski a shot at an open net in the game’s final minute with Red Deer pulling Ethan Anders, which he hit for his second marker of the evening to secure the 5-3 win.

Along with Chyzowski’s three-point night, returnees Van Impe and Bryan Lockner both piled up two-assist nights alongside prospect Dru Krebs.

Improving to a 2-1 mark in pre-season play, the Tigers wrap up exhibition play on Saturday night with a neutral-site game against the Calgary Hitmen at the Taber Community Centre with puck drop set for 7:00 pm.
