Calling all beer lovers!

The days of patio beers and summer sun may be behind us – or are at least on their way out. With the days growing shorter and the mornings beginning with a nip in the air, we need some way to warm up and have fun before the dark months of winter hit. Luckily for us, September brings with it a great chance to revive summer vibes with Medicine Hat Beer Fest!

On September 27th, 2019, your favourite breweries are getting together for the 11th annual Medicine Hat Beerfest at the Medicine Hat Lodge. Get your friends together for a fabulous night of great food and even greater beer, with tickets costing just $30. When you arrive at the event, you’ll be greeted by the amazing Beerfest volunteers who will hand you your souvenir tasting glass, a food voucher and 5 tasting tickets. Don’t worry though, we know there is a lot of beer to sample, so extra tasting tickets are only $1.

The main ballroom is lined with over 25 tables, each housing between 3 and 5 different kinds of beer. Within the first hour the room starts to buzz as the crowd grows. People talk with vendors and each other – all enthusiastic about beer and excited to sample as many as possible!

We know we had you at the word beer and you don’t really need any further convincing, but we’ll try anyway because Medicine Hat Beerfest is more than just a fun night out. Beerfest was started as a way to help promote Rugby in Medicine Hat, with proceeds from the event going to supporting the Medicine Hat Rugby Development Association. MHRDA is a non-profit organization started by a few rugby fanatics who were looking to develop the sport in Medicine Hat. The organization has raised and distributed over $50,000 to rugby in the community.

When Medicine Hat Beerfest began 11 years ago the focus was unique and different beers worldwide, with the Canadian craft beer scene was in its infancy. Now, Beerfest has evolved. You’ll still find unique and different beers from around the world, but the focus is on Canadian, and namely Alberta-made products!

Medicine Hat Beerfest averages around 100 different beers each year, with beer cocktails and ready to drink products available as well. For those who have jumped aboard the cider train, you’ll have some great choices in that department too. Whatever you are in the mood for, we have you covered! It’s the perfect opportunity to indulge your adventurous side and try something new, with some hidden gems of rare and unique craft beers making their way into the product list too.

Whether you’ve been before or this will be your first-time experiencing Medicine Hat Beerfest, we know there’s no place you’d rather be on September 27th, 2019. The show offers a great way for anyone interested in beer to find something they will enjoy and learn more about the products available; whether it’s a simple pilsner, a fruit-forward lambic, a robust stout or one of the other great choices, you may just end the night with a new favourite go-to! So, gather your friends for the ultimate Friday-night experience and witness the Lodge transformed into all things beer.
