PENTICTON, B.C. – The Brooks Bandits took a 3-2 lead in the second period, but again saw the advantage evaporate for the second straight game, as the host Penticton Vees scored four consecutive goals en route to a 6-3 win on Saturday night at the South Okanagan Events Centre.

The Bandits again outshot Penticton, this time 20-15, despite an 8-5 power play advantage for the BCHL side.

A power play rebound goal from Chris Pappas (Etobicoke, ON) at the 3:47 mark opened the scoring, before Liam Malmquist tied it for Penticton at 13:01 on a wrist shot from the left faceoff circle. Jackson Niedermayer finished off a backdoor feed at 15:50 to give the Vees their first lead of the night, heading into the second.

But T.J. Hughes (Hamilton, ON) scored just 3:20 into the second period to tie the game back up, before Pappas scored his second of the night on a low wrister from the slot at 6:29 to make it 3-2 Brooks.

But Penticton scored three more times before the period was out, with Vincent Nardone tying it at 7:14, Lukas Sillinger pulling Penticton ahead at 9:19, and Jay O’Brien capping off the scoring at 10:12.

The game remained scoreless until the final minute of the third when Sillinger scored his second of the game on a breakaway on the empty Bandit net to make it 6-3.

The Bandits will complete their BCHL trip Sunday afternoon when they take on the Vernon Vipers at 2 PM Pacific / 3 PM Mountain time. The broadcast can be heard on RealCountryBrooks.ca, or seen online on HockeyTV.
