Suhai once again representing Alberta on the national stage

Medicine Hat, AB – Andie Suhai is once again sporting the blue and yellow of Team Alberta on the national diamond.

The Medicine Hat little leaguer played for both the U14 and U16 provincial teams last summer.

Now as a 15-year-old she’s returning to the U16 team with experience and her eyes set on the title at the Girls Invitational Baseball Championship.

“As you get older, the competition gets harder and you have to get smarter with baseball. I think that really helped to learn all of that last year. And I think I’ll get to be in more of the play because last year I was an underager. I was there for the experience and now I’m here for the game.” She said.

Team Alberta lost in the bronze medal game last year.

Suhai says that experience will help this year’s roster, with many of the same players, reach the next level.

“We had a lot of good talent on that team and we have a lot of good talent on this team this year. And we’re going to get down to the nitty-gritty and grind.” She continued. “We all know each other better now. I think our connection and communication on the field will be better.”

Suhai’s team isn’t off to the start they would have liked, losing their opening match 8-1 to the host team Nova Scotia on Thursday.

On Friday they will play their final two seeding games against Ontario and Quebec before the quarter-finals begin on Saturday.
