OSOYOOS, BC — Make it a top-10 finish for local golf phenom Becky Martin at the Canadian Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship at the Osoyoos Golf Course.

The Medicine Hat Golf and Country Club member carded a final round 76 to finish tied for eighth and +6 for the tournament.

On top of her impressive overall placing in the national 25-and-over tournament, Martin also placed as the top Albertan. Calgary products Kim Carrington and Andrea Kosa were next in the provincial line to Martin at T14.

Thornhill, ON native Judith Kyrinis took first place, overcoming a one-stroke deficit in the final round, and beating Amy Ellertson of Virginia by a single stroke. Kyrinis finished -2 for the tournament after a one-under 72 on Tuesday, capped off with a birdie on the final hole.

This concludes one of Martin’s best individual seasons of her career. She earned her spot at this week’s event by winning the Alberta Mid Amateur crown last month in Acheson, which coincided with her Alberta Amateur championship.

Martin will now fly back home from southern BC. Her next tournament could potentially come on the first weekend of September at the Southeastern Championship at Connaught Golf Club.
