Police arrest criminal harassment suspect for second time after being released

Aug 19, 2019 | 12:14 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB – Medicine Hat Police have arrested a man for a second straight day, who had been released on criminal harassment charges the day prior.

Following reports of a suspicious person and vehicle in the 800 block of 5th Street Southeast, police located and arrested 34-year-old Robert Horon at around 4:30 pm on Sunday.

Horon had been charged with two counts of criminal harassment on Saturday relating to an incident in the 19th Street Southeast area after a woman had reported a man was watching and approaching females in the area.

After further investigation, police laid two more charges of criminal harassment against the Redcliff man after more complaints came forward.

Horon was released before his August 29 court date on a number of conditions including being prohibited from public parks, swimming pools, daycare centres, schools, playgrounds, community centres, and was barred from possessing any weapons.

Two additional charges of breach of recognizance have since been laid due to what police say was Horon’s proximity to a nearby school and after police allegedly located an ‘improvised weapon’ in his vehicle.

Horon has since been remanded into police custody and will appear in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on Tuesday.
