SWIFT CURRENT, SK – Two of Medicine Hat’s top young wrestlers are returning from the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games with multiple medals each.

Medicine Hat Hawks wrestlers Dylan Callan and Kiana Ivey starred for Team Alberta on the mat, each winning gold and silver over the weekend.

Competing in the male 115 kilogram category, the 15-year-old Callan earned a silver medal after falling to Manitoba’s Hayden Piche in the gold medal match on Sunday.

Callan also helped Team Alberta to a gold medal in the male team event, competing in five matches en-route to the top of the podium.

As for Ivey, she too won a gold medal in the female team event with five matches under her belt as well.

The 13-year-old Ivey had a shot at a second gold medal on Sunday in the female 50 kilogram division, however she had to settle for silver after losing to Peytyn Senka from Manitoba.

Callan and Ivey won four of Team Alberta’s 299 medals over the week in Swift Current, totalling the most out of any of the six provinces and territories.
