MEDICINE HAT, AB – Some added firepower is joining the Medicine Hat Cubs ranks, as the team has brought forward Ryley Bast into the fold.

The Cubs announced on Thursday they had acquired the rights to the 20-year-old playmaker from the Edson Aeros out of the Western States Hockey League.

Splitting time between the Aeros and Utah Outliers last season, the Lacombe native scored 15 goals and 41 points in 49 regular season games.

It will technically be Bast’s second stint in the Heritage Junior Hockey League, as he was called up for one game by the Blackfalds Wranglers in the 2016-17 season while with the Central Alberta Selects.

The Cubs also announced on Friday that Kaiden Anaskon has been brought on as the team’s new head equipment manager after six years with the Regina Bantam AA Aces program in Saskatchewan.

Medicine Hat will be holding their prep camp from August 30 to September 1 at the Rec-Tangle Arena in Redcliff.
