Seven Persons, AB – This will be Alberta’s seventh annual Open Farm Days with the event only gaining popularity across the province with a number of host sites available to visit around Medicine Hat and Brooks.

Seven Persons-based Premium Sausage will be hosting events and conducting tours of their facility on Saturday as part of the annual event.

The business has grown to a must-see destination for cyclists, bikers and motorists over the past 30 years.

Owners Debbie and Mark Penner say Open Farms Days is an opportunity for the public to see what goes into making a good quality, locally produced food product.

“And I think that’s what Open Farms Days does is they get the consumer to meet the producer – whether it be farms, ranches, businesses – they get to find exactly where their food comes from – how it’s made,” said Debbie Penner. “There’s no secrets, it’s just all out there because people want to know.”

Premium Sausage will be running events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. The Big Country Agricultural Society in Oyen, Cypress County’s Bitter Water Rescue Ranch, Spragg’s Meat Shop and Farm in Rosemary and White Barn Fun Farm near Brooks all have events planned over the weekend.
