Brooks, AB – It`s a tribute the National Junior A Champions Brooks Bandits weren`t likely expecting. But to have your championship marked by a corn maze drawn in the shape of the team`s logo is a tribute indeed.

This is the sixth year for the Brooks Corn Maze hosted by Michelle and Ron Gietz located at the edge of the Centennial City.

Standing among eight-foot tall corn stalks Michelle said these types of mazes are attractive because they provide a bit of an experience for people, “especially for younger kids. . .The idea you are in there and have to find your own way out is just an appealing adventure.“

Michelle said she became enamoured with corn mazes when she lived in Tennessee, “and my kids loved it. When we moved back to Canada, we thought we would try one here.“

As for Michelle`s favourite thing about corn mazes, “it`s just good family fun.“

In addition to the maze, there will be a number of other games and activities at the Gietz farm.

Michelle said a few thousand people visit the maze with about half coming in from Medicine Hat, not just for the attraction but also to take advantage of the late season u-pick raspberries.

The Brooks Corn Maze opens for weekends starting on Saturday Aug. 17.
