MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat College Rattlers have announced their head coach for the men’s and women’s golf program.

In a press release sent Tuesday afternoon, Dillon Batsel was named the new coach of the program, which gets underway this fall.

Batsel, originally from Medicine Hat, played four years of NCAA Division 1 golf with Jacksonville University. According to the release, he helped the University grow into a top 40 team in the country, and also helped the team compete at Nationals in 2016 for the first time in the program’s history.

He is currently a Canadian Professional Golfers Association assistant professional at Desert Blume Golf Club, and is a full-time faculty member in the college’s business administration department.

Batsel is replacing Trevor Moore, who stepped down as Rattlers golf coach in June. Moore had been coaching the team since 2010.

The golf season runs throughout September. The Rattlers will participate at tournaments in Edmonton and Calgary. The Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference Championships will take place in Camrose from September 27-29.
