CALGARY, AB – For years Delrae Vetter has dominated Medicine Hat’s swimming scene, now she’s impressing at the national level as well.

Competing at the 2019 Canadian Junior Swimming Championships down the road in Calgary, Vetter won her second medal of the week on Friday in the 1,500 metre freestyle event.

The 14-year-old phenom shaved close to 10 seconds of her personal best time in the distance, finishing with a time of 18:05.78 to win a national bronze medal.

That wasn’t her only personal best of the week however, as Vetter posted a time of 9:25.51 in the 800 metre freestyle event on Wednesday to capture a silver medal as well.

It’s been a wild month for Vetter with the teen booking her spot at April’s Canadian Olympic Trials by earning a silver medal at the Alberta Summer Championships.

Vetter’s Alberta Marlin Aquatic Club teammate Kristin Hollingsworth also qualified to compete at the Canadian Junior Championships, however results for the 13-year-old were not posted as of Sunday afternoon.

The national swim meet will wind up on Monday at the Repsol Sport Centre in Calgary.
