MEDICINE HAT, AB — A heat warning has been issued for Medicine Hat, Brooks and much of Cypress County.

According to Environment Canada, temperatures up to 32 degrees combined with overnight lows near 16 degrees are expected for the next two days.

A high pressure system is building over the prairies, causing a very warm air mass to spike temperatures during Monday and Tuesday.

Residents and visitors are warned to take precautions, such as rescheduling outdoor activities, taking frequent breaks from the heat, and drinking plenty of water.

In addition, monitor for symptoms of heat stroke and heat exhaustion, such as high body temperatures, lack of sweat and fainting.

Temperatures are expected to come down slightly by mid week.
