Knights ‘feeling pretty good as a team’ ahead of North District Tourney

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Knights of Columbus Knights have waited all summer for what’s in store this week.

The local American Legion crew is welcoming six ‘A’ division squads to Jefferies Field for the Montana/Alberta Northern District Tournament.

The double-knockout championship Thursday at 11:00 a.m., with the Knights first contest set for 5:45 p.m. against the Lewistown Cardinals.

Should the Knights win their opener, they’ll take on the winner between the Fort McLeod Royals and Lethbridge Miners. A loss would leave them fighting to stay alive on Friday.

Medicine Hat, seeded sixth, is hunting down one of two berths at the Montana State Tournament at the end of the month.

While playing on home-turf is sure to be a huge benefit, four-year Knight Carter Krauss says experience will also play a factor.

Although the Knights are fielding a much younger team compared to previous years, Krauss plans on passing on the knowledge he’s gained from previous playoff experiences.

Mitch Bach of CHAT Sports caught up with the veteran second baseman, along with catcher Kaitlyn Ross and head coach Lane Aman to hear how the team feels leading up to their first game, how playing at home serves as a great benefit, and the keys to securing a spot at the State Tournament.
