City launches online engagement forum

Medicine Hat, AB – The City of Medicine Hat has launched a new tool to help give residents the chance to be more involved with what is happening in the community.

‘Shape Your City’ is an online forum for people polls, surveys, discussion forums, idea boards, and more.

Colleen Graham, Manager of Corporate Communications with the City of Medicine Hat, is hopefully that with the ease of the site people will be more engaged.

“We’re asking residents to go online to our website and check it out. Basically whatever’s topical in the city at the moment we’re going to be featuring content regarding that issue.” She said. “You’ll learn more about opportunities to attend open houses, you’ll be able to participate in discussion forms. There’s all kinds of opportunities for the public to be heard.”

With the initial launch of the site, the city is featuring a forum on pickleball courts development, information on how to sign up for ebilling, and a place to give feedback on downtown.

The site is open for everyone to view, but to engage more and get involved with discussions users will need to register.

Registered users can also tailor their preferences to receive notifications about topics that they are interested in.
