Dawgs score late, defeat Mavericks 7-4

OKOTOKS, AB – The Medicine Hat Mavericks saw their lead slip away late in Tuesday’s game against the Okotoks Dawgs.

Up 4-0 in the seventh inning, the Dawgs combined for four runs in the bottom of the inning, and added three more in the eighth to take a 7-4 victory at Seaman Stadium.

Jacob Melton batted in three of the runs for the Dawgs during the game, while Jaxon Valcke batted in two.

PJ Garcia had two runs and two hits for the Mavericks. Teammate Sal Rodriguez finished the game with two hits, one run and one RBI.

Evan Sutta was credited with the loss for the Mavericks. He pitch six and two thirds innings, allowing four runs, seven hits and four errors. He struck out five batters during the game.

Dan Ferrario was the winning pitcher. He pitched two-thirds of an inning, allowing two walks and striking out one batter. Dustin Schorie was credited with a save for the Dawgs.

The Mavericks and Dawgs play again Wednesday in Okotoks. The game begins at 7:05 p.m.
