Public Consultation

County seeking public consultation on proposed projects

Jul 16, 2019 | 4:20 PM

Cypress County, AB – Cypress County has been approached about building two different multi-million dollar projects and is looking for public consultation.

They are hoping to determine the level of support towards using public money either either or both of the projects.

Something county reeve Dan Hamilton says is very important to the council

“It’s a lot of money that is going to be spent. The one is a 5.3 million dollar project and the others a 2 million dollar project.” He continued. “So it’s only fair that the people of Cypress County get a chance to come in and say whether they like to be involved. Or no say away from that. We’re very interested in what the public want.”

The 5.3 million dollar project would be a new arena and training facility.

It would be a joint project with Prairie Rose School division and have a gym for the public to use.

The second is an indoor equestrian centre with the Dunmore Equestrian Society.

Along with the riding and practice area there could potentially be a large spectator seating area, stalls for temporary event stabling, and parking with capability for overnight trailer camping.

Open houses will be held on July 30 and 31 by the county where people can voice their opinions and hear presentations.

An online survey can also be found on the county’s website until August.
