SYLVAN LAKE, AB – The task of upsetting the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse League’s top team was just too tall for the Medicine Hat Sun Devils on Sunday, eliminated from playoffs at the hands of the Yetti.

Eric Taylor netted five goals for Sylvan Lake in Sunday’s Game 2 tilt, giving the home side a 21-11 victory to sweep their best-of-three series.

Medicine Hat fell behind the eight ball early against the Yetti, allowing five goals over the first 14 minutes of action including a pair from Taylor.

A pair of Sun Devils goals would be out the buzzer before the end of the first period, however it was still a 6-2 deficit at the intermission.

Captain Aidan McLean exploded for four goals in the second period for the Sun Devils to get their offence going again, however their defence took a hit by giving up nine goals from the Yetti.

Trailing by a 15-8 score entering the third, the Sun Devils defensive struggles continued with another six allowed goals before the final buzzer.

Complete stats from Sunday’s Game 2 were incomplete as of Monday afternoon, however both McLean and Daniel Drefs were able to find the back of the net in the season-ending loss.

Losing out in the second round of playoffs for the second straight year, the Sun Devils end their season with a 10-8 record in both the regular and post-seasons.

As for Sylvan Lake, they now qualify for the RMLL provincial tournament along with the High River Heat out of the South Division.
