OKOTOKS, AB – Kaitlyn Ross’s quest for a national gold medal ran into a wall on Sunday and that was named Alexane Fournier.

Fournier allowed just two hits over five and one-third innings in semi-final action at the 2019 Canadian Women’s Championship, helping Team Quebec to a 3-1 victory over Ross and Team Alberta.

Ross, a Redcliff native and catcher with Team Alberta, was held hitless in three trips to the plate against Quebec on Sunday.

This after Ross was 1-for-4 at the dish against Ontario on Saturday in a wild 18-17 extra innings loss, contributing two runs as well.

Through five games with Team Alberta at the national tournament, Ross has posted two hits, one RBI, and four runs.

Dropping to a 3-2 record after their semi-finals loss, Team Alberta will hit the diamond bright and early on Monday at 8:30 am for a bronze medal tilt against Team British Columbia.

Quebec meanwhile advances to Monday morning’s national gold medal contest against Team Ontario.

Following the conclusion of that game, Baseball Canada will make its selections for the national team that will play at the 2019 Women’s World Baseball Championships.
