MEDICINE HAT, AB — Severe weather has forced the World Professional Chuckwagon Association to end the opening night of races at the Medicine Hat Exhibition and Stampede early.
According to a press release issued by the WPCA, the final four heats were called off due to unsafe conditions for fans, horses, and competitors as a result of strong winds and inclement weather.
A decision on the status of these heats will be made by WPCA judges on Friday.
Heavy rainfall blasted through Medicine Hat and the surrounding area, beginning at roughly 9:00 p.m. and lasting for much of the evening.
