MEDICINE HAT, AB — A preliminary hearing for a man charged with second-degree murder will take place later this year.

Donald Goodwill, 24, appeared in Medicine Hat Provincial Court on Tuesday, where a preliminary hearing was set for November 25.

Goodwill was arrested by Medicine Hat Police Service in December 2018 after a man’s body was discovered in a downtown apartment building.

Police were checking on a missing person when they found the man’s body.

Police never identified the victim, but family later identified him as Dustin Ironquil, 23.

Police allege Goodwill and the victim knew each other.

According to Court Check, the hearing is expected to last five days. It will determine if there is enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.
