Canada beats Dominican Republic to reach final at U16 Americas Championship
BELEM, Brazil — Canada had advanced to its third straight finals appearance at the FIBA under-16 Americas Championship.
Caleb Houstan led with 29 points as the Canadians beat the Dominican Republic 97-81 on Saturday in the tournament semifinal.
Houstan set a new record for points in a game by a Canadian at the U16 Americas. Earlier in the week, Houstan tied the previous record of 28 points, which was held by Kevin Pangos (2009 vs. Venezuela), in Canada’s 90-67 win over Brazil.
Ryan Nembhard added 19 points and 12 assists, while Shaedon Sharpe had 17 points.
