Rotary Centennial Trail to run along South Boundary Road

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Medicine Hat City Council has voted to name a new trail Rotary Centennial Trail.

The trail will be the first of its kind that connects Desert Blume to Medicine Hat along the north side of South Boundary Road.

Something Mayor Ted Clugston says was needed.

“It’s been a long time coming this trail, it really does make sense to connect the two communities,” says Clugston. “We all know there has been a fatality on that road as well, maybe more than one.”

The trail was constructed using $400,000 of funding from the local Rotary Club, along with funds from the Alberta Lotteries Corporation and Cypress Country.

It will be a safe place for pedestrian and cyclist traffic.

“It was just a good partnership between the county,” says Clugston. “The city and a service club. $400,000 is a lot of money.”
