One dead following collision near Brooks

BROOKS, AB — RCMP in Brooks say a 72-year-old man has died following a two vehicle collision near Brooks Monday evening.

According to a news release, RCMP responded to a collision at the intersection of Range Road 150 and the Trans-Canada Highway at approximately 5 p.m. A pickup truck, travelling south on Range Road 150, collided with a SUV that was travelling east on the Trans-Canada Highway.

The 72-year-old man, who was driving the SUV, was pronounced deceased at the scene. A passenger in the SUV, along with the driver of the truck, are currently being treated at a nearby hospital.

The collision remains under investigation, and no charges have been laid. RCMP say at this time, there is no indication drugs or alcohol were a factor.
