Clouston and Tigers part ways

MEDICINE HAT, AB — The Medicine Hat Tigers have announced that the team and head coach and general manager Shaun Clouston have parted ways.

The news came in a press release sent Thursday morning.

“We would like to thank Shaun for his commitment, dedication and tireless work ethic to this organization for the past 16 years. We wish Shaun all the best in his future endeavours,” said Tigers President Darrell Maser in a statement.

Clouston has been with the Tigers since the 2003 season, when he joined as an assistant coach. He has served as head coach since 2010.

Clouston is also the all-time leader for wins as a Tigers coach, with 375.

CHAT TV News has learned Willie Desjardins is reportedly going to be returning to the bench as a head coach of the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Kamloops journalist Gregg Drinnan tells us a reliable source in within the Tigers organization is saying Desjardins will be back.

Desjardins coached the Tigers from 2003-2010, a tenure which included two WHL championships (2004 and 2007). He most recently served as interim head coach for the Los Angeles Kings, and started a hockey academy in Medicine Hat.

The Tigers are not commenting on the report but do have a news conference scheduled for 10 AM Friday where a major announcement is expected.
