Mueller thrilled to be running for NDP in Cypress-Medicine Hat

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Peter Mueller, the NDP candidate for Cypress-Medicine Hat, says he’s looking forward to the upcoming campaign.

“I’m just thrilled to be able to be fighting with Rachel Notley for the people of Cypress-Medicine Hat,” he said Tuesday afternoon.

Mueller is running against incumbent candidate Drew Barnes (United Conservative Party), Colette Smithers (Alberta Party) and Anwar Kamaran (Alberta Liberals).

Mueller says he’s hoping Albertans will look at Notley’s record as premier as they head to the polls.

“As we enter the election campaign, if people step back and think for a moment, they will be very, very happy with what Rachel has done,” he said. “It’s very obvious she’s fighting for all of the people of Alberta, not just those that are the top one per cent. She’s fighting for health care, she’s fighting for education. We need more teachers, there’s 15,000 more students in the province, we need more nurses.”

Cypress-Medicine Hat has voted Progressive Conservative or Wildrose since its creation in 1993. Mueller is hoping to change that trend.

“I think the closer we get to April 16, the more people will realize that there is a wonderful choice between the two leaders, and that maybe they’ll rethink their commitment to what they’ve done in the past,” he said.

The election is April 16.
