MEDICINE HAT, AB – It’s do or die for the Medicine Hat Travelodge Cubs, who now face elimination after Game 4 of their series against the Coaldale Copperheads on Monday night.

The Cubs allowed three goals over the opening 17 minutes of action, never able to find their footing in a 6-1 loss to the Copperheads.

Coaldale netminder Nolan Berner stood on his head with 45 saves on 46 shots from the Cubs, while Medicine Hat’s lone goal came off the blade of Levi Schlosser early in the first period.

Jason Creighton and Jared Bainbridge both had multi-goal nights, each scoring twice on Medicine Hat’s Brett Vanderveer, who recorded 24 stops.

Now trailing 3-1 in the best-of-seven series, the Cubs will have to win each of their next three games to avoid elimination at the hands of the Copperheads.

Game 5 will be played in Coaldale on Wednesday night at 7:45 pm and if the Cubs stay alive, the series will head back to the Kinplex on Thursday at 8:30 pm for Game 6.
