Former SPCA manager officially terminated

Seaton spoke out following allegations regarding tampered paperwork and a lack of transparancy about four owner-relinquished cats that ended up at the Alberta Pound and Rescue Centre (APARC).

She says she hasn’t been to the SPCA or been in touch with anyone from the board of directors since the last time she was in the building on February 2.

“The last day I was in the building was February 2,” says Seaton. “10 days after that I had the right to file with the Labour Board cause I had no papers, which I did.”

Seaton says on Thursday a server came to her home and delivered the termination letter.

“I have no reason,” says Seaton. “No idea why I’m fired, there’s none.”

Seaton has also been in touch with the Alberta Pound and Rescue Centre. APARC conducted an investigation into the same situation involving four relinquished cats, and eventually suspended inter-shelters transfers with the SPCA.

“They sent me an official document that says the truth basically about what happened,” says Seaton “And clears me of any wrongdoing which I’m very appreciative of.”

A portion of the letter reads:

“You have freely admitted to taking in those cats into the care of the MHSPCA, but we can confirm you were not the supervisor that provided purposefully misleading information and initiated transfer of the cats, nor the individual that transported the cats to our facility. We confirmed this information with the relinquishing individual and our staff.”

The SPCA announced last week it’s conducting its own investigation into the allegations.
