MOOSE JAW, SK — A night to forget for the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Brayden Tracey notched his second career hat-trick as the Moose Jaw Warriors crushed the Tabbies 6-1 at Mosaic Place on Friday night.

Warriors net-minder Adam Evanoff was nearly unbeatable, stopping 33 of 34 shots.

Jordan Hollett allowed five goals on 27 shots before Mads Sogaard took over the Tigers twine with 5:11 remaining in the second period. Sogaard allowed one goal on ten shots.

Keenan Taphorn, Kjell Kjemhus, and Justin Almeida also scored for the Warriors (28-11-6-2), who’ve won seven of their last eight. They remain third place in the WHL’s East Division, comfortably ahead of the Brandon Wheat Kings in fourth.

Medicine Hat’s lone goal came from Ryan Chyzowski with just under 10 minutes to play. The alternate captain’s 16th of the season cut the Warriors lead to 5-1 at the time.

Cole Sillinger, drafted in the first round of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft, played as a call-up and notched an assist on Chyzowski’s goal. Brett Kemp was also credited with a helper.

The Tabbies (27-18-2-2) sit squarely in the midst of a log-jammed Central Division. They’re tied with Lethbridge for third place. However, the Hurricanes held a 3-1 lead over the Red Deer Rebels at the time of publication.

The Warriors also beat the Tigers last Saturday at the Canalta Centre by a 3-1 score. Not since Nov. 16 had the Tigers lost back-to-back games.

Medicine Hat returns to the Canalta Centre on Saturday night, hosting the Brandon Wheat Kings at 7:30 p.m.
