Brooks, Tilley among replacement schools announced in budget
EDMONTON, AB — Premier Rachel Notley and Education Minister David Eggen have announced 20 news schools for the province.
In separate announcements in Calgary and Edmonton on Friday, the province revealed the new schools, which includes seven new schools, seven replacements, three modernizations, two schools approved for the design phase and one addition to a previous existing school. $393 million has been set aside in the budget for the schools.
“Our kids deserve to learn and grow in modern classrooms,” Notley said in a news release. “That’s why we are improving existing schools and building new ones where they’re needed. With our announcement of 20 new and modernized school projects, we are making long overdue progress and making sure all young Albertans can get a great education.”
“Our government knows that stability in the school system helps students and their families, and we will continue to protect these core services for Albertans,” said Eggen in a statement. “We know that investing in education is one of the most important investments we can make in our province’s future, and that is why we will continue to make these important investments.”
