WEYBURN, SK — The Medicine Hat Mavericks ran into a hot arm on Wednesday night.

Carson Perkins allowed just six hits and two runs as the Weyburn Beavers ended the Mavs three game win streak with a 6-2 victory.

The Beavers caught fire early, scoring two runs in the first inning. They added another mark in the fourth frame, the winning run scored after Brady Nygaard doubled to left field to score Evan Weidner.

The entirety of Medicine Hat’s offence came in the sixth frame. Louie Canjura clocked a sac-hit to bring home Zack Kunkel for the visiting team’s first run of the match. Two batters later, Colton Wright singled to the infield to score David Salgueiro.

Weyburn, now 23-16, has won eight of it’s last ten games and sits third in the East Division.

The Mavericks remain in third place in the East Division, but fall to 1.5 games back of Lethbridge and just half a game up on Edmonton.

These two teams will battle it out a second time tomorrow night at 7:05 p.m.
