MEDICINE HAT, AB – It’s a 1-1 start for the Saamis Rotary Majestics in their home tournament after a matchup against Edmonton Confederation Park on Saturday.

Picking up a big 13-3 victory over the Cranbrook B Bandits on Friday night, the Majestics squared off against Edmonton at Jeffries Park.

A 0-0 game into the third inning, Edmonton scored five runs on four Medicine Hat errors to take a 5-0 lead.

In the top of the fourth inning with two out, a ground ball hit by Medicine Hat’s Dylan Fauth created an Edmonton error, and brought Reese Whelan and Connor Drever across the plate.

From there, it was a defensive duel with Edmonton closing out the Majestics by a 5-2 final score.

Medicine Hat’s Lane Rempel pitched five and one-third innings on Saturday, allowing no earned runs on three hits and striking out one batter.

It was a defensive game until the end, with Medicine Hat and Edmonton combining for just seven hits over seven innings.

The Majestics finish off the round-robin on Saturday evening at Jeffries Field, as they host the Macklin Lakers at 5:45 pm.

In other American Legion action on Saturday, the K of C Knights looked to continue their season-high win streak against the Northeast Indians.

Coming into Saturday’s contest, the Knights had won 13 straight games including an 11-2 drubbing of the Calgary Redbirds on Friday evening.

Northeast got off to a hot start, scoring a pair of runs in the first inning to an early 2-0 advantage.

The Knights responded in the top of the fourth inning, with a pair of walks with the bases loaded to Ethan Loran and Dylan Koenig tying the game at 2-2.

Medicine Hat was unable to keep it tied up however, as in the bottom half of the inning an error from Koenig allowed a Northeast run to score.

The next Indians batter flied out to right field, but scored a base runner from third to take a 4-2, which would hold as the final score.

Meanwhile, it was a rough Saturday for the Medicine Hat Moose Monarchs.

In their opening game against the Billings Royals, the Moose Monarchs fell by a final score of 5-1.

Drake Thompson had the lone RBI on the afternoon, while Cole Schreiber and Tanner Kidd pitched on the mound.

In the back half of double-header against Billings, the Monarchs took a 2-0 after the top of the first but allowed 13 straight runs in a 13-2 loss.

The Moose Monarchs only picked up four hits on the day, with Devon Schneider, Alex Andres, and Nathan Schlachter splitting time on the mound.
