REDCLIFF, AB — RCMP in Redcliff are asking for the public’s assistance to identify a motorcyclist who was allegedly driving dangerously.

On Saturday at approximately 10:30 a.m., RCMP attempted to conduct a traffic stop with a yellow Suzuki TLR motorcycle on Highway 1 at Redcliff.

S/Sgt. Sean Maxwell said the motocycle had been parked at the Husky Gas Station when the officer noticed he couldn’t see the license plate.

The driver of the motorcycle failed to stop for police and began to driving dangerously when police made an attempt to pull him over.

Officers did not pursue the motorcycle.

“What’s expected under the law is somebody pulls over when they’re asked to pull over by a police officer,” Maxwell said. “In this particular case, the person didn’t and took off at a high rate of speed. Leads us to some questions in terms of who the individual was, that sort of thing. There are some charges potentially layable for this, where you’ve got flight from police potentially, failing to stop and obey a police officer.”

RCMP have released a pair of photos in connection with the incident, including one of the driver.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or has information of the identity of the man on the motorcycle is asked to call Redcliff RCMP at 403-548-2288.
