DUNMORE, AB — The Prairie Rose School Division has elected two new trustees to represent Ward One.

Lois Bedwell and Lucille Hertz received the most votes in a special byelection Thursday for the two vacant positions. According to the unofficial results, Hertz received 293 votes, while Bedwell received 285.

Daryl Yake and Jim Ness were also running for the position, and received 141 and 128 votes, respectively.

Ward One includes the areas of Oyen, New Brigden and Acadia Valley, and was without representation after Christie Dick resigned in January due to moving out of the ward. Trustee Patti Machell, who also represented Ward One, resigned in 2015.

The division now has a full slate of eight trustees. Pamela Cursons was acclaimed as trustee for Ward Four, which includes Redcliff, Ralston and Jenner, replacing Bob Wickens, who also resigned in January.

Bedwell, Hertz and Cursons will be sworn in as trustees on March 14.
