LETHBRIDGE – The City of Lethbridge is still working to find out if the completion of the ATB Centre will be delayed as a result of a construction site fire.

“We are consulting with the general contractor to determine what effect, if any, the recent fire may have on the project schedule,” project manager Pat Spanos said in a statement. Two steel beams appeared to have been warped by the fire in Phase Two, which when completed will include an aquatic centre and field house.

Damage was estimated at $100,000 following the fire, which started the evening of Sunday, Jan. 29 as a result of a malfunctioning propane heater.

The expectation has been for construction to be complete by 2019.
