Stifle the Ughs

I heard a discussion on the radio about Sofia Loren and her ‘secrets’ for positive aging.

Now many of us have a different type of beauty than she exudes and I confess to thinking that it was highly unlikely that any thing she said would apply to me. But, as often happens, I was wrong.

She said she doesn’t make ‘old people sounds.’

I laughed when I heard that. I knew exactly what she meant!

At fifty, I feel pretty great most of the time but when I get up after a while of sitting in the same position, I definitely have caught myself making ‘old people sounds.’

The moan, the grunt, the groan, the ugh and other unmentionables.

Since hearing her tip, I have become really cognizant of making these sounds and trying to stop.  I often instead now have a little chuckle either under my breath or sometimes out loud when I consciously stifle the ughs.

The laugh is much better than the ughs.

Whether it helps me stay young or not, I don’t really know, but what I do know is that it makes me feel younger!

Stifle the ughs, it’s just one more way to live Your Life, Unlimited!
