Ron Bilton (http://onepieceofalife.com) has written his autobiography and you should care.

Why?  Because it is a story that needs to be told and more importantly it’s a story that needs to be heard.  As a survivor of childhood sexual abuse, Ron’s story goes from a young traumatized boy, to the height of qualifying for the Olympics and to the brink of despair  in his garage contemplating the unthinkable and back to one pretty put together dude that has dealt with his past.

The roller coaster of emotions I personally went through while reading was vast.

Heart-wrenching but hopeful, difficult to read – but impossible to stop, it made me angry, afraid, and a bit paranoid.  Why read it then? Because it’s an important message of resilience, forgiveness and fortitude that needs to be spread. If it can help just one person – Ron says it will be worth all the fortitude  (my word) that it took him to write it.

This responsible Winnipeg Police Patrol Seargent pours out his heart in a way that makes you want to seek him out and wrap your arms around him.  In the end you are cheering for this man and the all the strength he drew out of himself (with professional help) to conquer this nightmare.

Currently Ron is doing his life’s work serving his Police colleagues as a Service Wellness Officer, providing support to officers who experience the effects from critical and traumatic incidents.
