Don’t use the digital zoom feature on your smartphone. While optical zoom, when the lens on a camera actually moves closer, is a very effective zoom tool, your smartphone doesn’t have this functionality. With digital zoom, it’s just making the picture bigger using software, which will lead to pixilation and distortion. Take the picture zoomed out, then use a computer or photo editing apps to crop and zoom after the picture has been taken.
