MEDICINE HAT, AB – It was a home opener to remember for the Medicine Hat Sun Devils on Saturday night, laying a 16-5 beat down on the Olds Stingers.

Forward Aidan McLean led the charge with five goals and two helpers on Saturday night, helping to improve Medicine Hat’s record to 2-1 on the 2018 season.

Despite falling behind 2-0 early in the first period to Olds, the Sun Devils scored four straight goals to close out the period and take a 4-2 lead into the intermission.

The physical side also picked up late in the first, with Medicine Hat’s Noah Loran and Olds’ Ian Griffiths dropping the mitts and receiving game misconducts.

After exchanging goals in the second frame, the Sun Devils came alive with a pair of late goals from Daniel Drefs and Izaak Loran to lead Olds 8-4 heading to the third.

Medicine Hat put the game well out of reach shortly after, scoring seven times in less than 10 minutes which included a hat-trick from Izaak Loran to make it a 15-4 game.
