MEDICINE HAT, AB – A comeback attempt fell just short for the Medicine Hat High JV Mohawks baseball team on Saturday morning, dropping an exhibition meeting against the Eagle Butte High Talons.

Eagle Butte built up a 9-0 lead after four innings, with Ryder Krauss and Parker Starner each knocking in a pair of runs.

Trailing 10-1 entering the sixth inning, the Mohawks began slowly chipping away at the Talons lead with Seth Baille, Kobe Coderre, and Zac Henderson all scoring before the first out.

An RBI single from Daniel Munoz and a pair of walks with the bases loaded helped to cut into the deficit even more, with the Mohawks only down by three runs.

However, Eagle Butte’s Tyler Bang closed things out with a strikeout to end the game, giving the Talons a 10-7 victory.

Errors proved to be the deciding factor in Saturday’s exhibition game, with the Mohawks racking up nine errors compared to zero from the Talons.

Talons starter Jaeger Friesen threw 92 pitches over five innings to pick up the win, giving up three earned runs and registering three strikeouts.

The two sides meet again on Saturday afternoon at Jeffries Park for another exhibition game, with first pitch scheduled for 1:00 pm.
