EDMONTON, AB – Local wrestler Bailee McNaughton can call herself one of the top young wrestlers in Canada following U17/U19 Canadian Championships in Edmonton.

On Saturday, McNaughton defeated Ayesha Mian from the Pacific Rim Wrestling Club in British Columbia to take home the national bronze medal in the U17 43 kilogram weight class.

A student at Alexandra Middle School, McNaughton was also chosen as the banner carrier for Zone 1 at the Alberta Winter Games earlier this year.

McNaughton didn’t reach the podium at those games, but won gold at the 2018 Alberta Open Wrestling Championships in Calgary last month.
