Watson finishes in fifth place in hurdles final at Commonwealth Games

GOLD COAST, QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA — Sage Watson will not be coming home with a medal from the 2018 Commonwealth Games.

During the women’s 400 metre metre hurdles final on Thursday, the Seven Persons racer finished in fifth place with a time of 55.55 seconds at the Carrara Stadium Track.

Janieve Russell of Jamaica won the gold medal, finishing with a time of 54.33 seconds, followed by Scotland’s Eilidh Doyle with a time of 54.80 seconds.

Wenda Nel of South Africa won the bronze medal with a time of 54.96 seconds.

Canada currently sits fourth in the medal count with 60 (12 gold, 29 silver, 19 bronze).

The games run until Sunday.
