MEDICINE HAT, AB – Local barrel racers and team ropers were on display Saturday for the second evening of action at the Broncs and Honky Tonks Indoor Spring Rodeo at the Cypress Centre.

The team roping duo of Dalton Kraft from Irvine and Jared Pancoast out of Cypress County wrangled their calf in a time of 6.1 seconds.

That time has put them into fifth place after the second day of competition, while the team of Taylor Wudrich from Bow Island and Tanner Jones from Maple Creek didn’t register a time.

Meanwhile, it was a time of 14.3 seconds for Brooks’s Devin Wigemyr and his teammate Roland McFadden from Vulcan.

Medicine Hat’s Kevin Schreiner and his partner Braidy Davies still sit atop the leader board with a time of 4.7 seconds from Friday evening.

A strong showing in ladies barrel racing from Maple Creek product Colby Gilbert, crossing the finish line with a time of 13.368 seconds to end her night in tenth place.

Alex Hanson out of Medicine Hat had a tougher time in her home event, finishing with a time of 18.460 seconds to keep her out of the top 10.

Aldergrove, BC’s Carman Pozzobon has carried her top time of 13.163 seconds from Friday into Sunday’s final day of competition.

Regina’s Ty Taypotat is the man to beat in bareback riding, posting a score of 88.5 points while riding ‘Garden Party’ on Saturday.

Steer wrestling proved to be a challenge with only one competitor in Mayerthorpe’s Travis Reay getting a time under 10 seconds, while Montana’s Luke Gee continues to lead the pack at 4.6 seconds.

Justin Berg from Camrose was the lone competitor to register a score in the saddle bronc competition with an 81.5 on ‘B.B. Summer Trip’ and is sitting alone in first place.

Lots of quick times Saturday in the tie-down roping event, but Airdrie’s Scot Meeks has locked down first place with a time of 8.1 seconds.

And to close out the night in bull riding, J.B. Moen from Elrose, Saskatchewan was the only man to stay on his bull with a first place score of 81 points.

The final day of indoor rodeo action gets going at the Cypress Centre at 1:30 pm on Sunday, with locals Trent Tunke (team roping) and Jared Parsonage (bull riding) set to compete.
