EDMONTON, AB – Redemption will be on the mind of Medicine Hat boxer Janick Lacroix on Sunday, as he goes for a national junior title for the second straight year.

The 16-year-old fighter out of the Medicine Hat Boxing Club defeated British Columbia’s Elias Martinez in the semi-finals of the light-middleweight division at the 2018 Super Channel National Championships.

For the second year in a row, Lacroix will be competing for gold as he will match up against Thomas Gordon out of Saskatchewan for the national title.

Last year, Lacroix lost a split-decision to Christopher Guerrero from Quebec in the gold medal bout.

It’s been a very successful 2017-18 season for the local boxer, who successfully defended his provincial title in February.

Lacroix and Gordon will meet in the 70 kilogram national championship at 1:00 pm at the Radisson Hotel in Edmonton on Sunday.
