MEDICINE HAT, AB – Kennedy Werre and Brodie Dolter were the big winners on Thursday night, as the Medicine Hat College Rattlers handed out their year end athletics awards.

Werre and Dolter took home Rattlers Female and Male Athlete of the Year awards respectively, after drawing provincial attention during their senior years.

Named ACAC Player of the Year, Werre helped the Rattlers women’s basketball team to a silver medal at provincials and their first berth at CCAA Nationals in a decade.

Werre led all ACAC players with 284 rebounds, ranked fourth in points per game (15.9), set the ACAC career rebounds record, and was nominated for CCAA Player of the Year.

As for Dolter, the men’s volleyball player was named to the ACAC All-Conference Team for his defensive abilities, which included 52 solo blocks this season and ranked fifth in the province in that category.

One of the most consistent middles in Alberta, Dolter also ranked fourth in the ACAC with an average of 0.68 blocks per set.

Dolter’s teammate Chad Sieben meanwhile was named Rattlers Male Rookie of the Year with 382 assists on the season, which placed the freshman in 13th place in the province.

Female Athlete of the Year went to women’s basketball player and Medicine Hat product Katelyn Rozdeba, who ended the season with 104 total rebounds and became one of the Rattlers’ best weapons off the bench.
