Police and RCMP searching for suspect after shots fired in city

Medicine Hat, AB  – The Medicine Hat Police Service and Redcliff RCMP are currently responding to a serious incident involving a firearm.

Both police and RCMP confirming to CHAT News they’re investigating reports of shots fired in the Crescent Heights neighbourhood at approximately 6 p.m.

The incident took place in the Northlands Lane Northeast area of the city, and resulted in a firearm being fired in a home. The suspect fled the scene.

Police are currently searching for a black, two door, mid to late 200’s car which resembles an Audi. The vehicle was covered in mud at the time, according to initial reports.

A containment area was set up in parts of Crescent Heights and the city’s northwest.

The armoured response vehicle was called out as a precaution.

Medicine Hat Police say the suspect is considered armed and dangerous. The suspect has fled the city is currently travelling westbound.

Police are currently interviewing witnesses, and the Major Crimes Section is investigating.

Police say it is unknown at this time if it was a targeted incident.

Anyone who comes across the vehicle should not approach and instead call police at 403-529-8481.
